Byron Nelson routs Timber Creek and more from Fort Worth area football in Week 7

Byron Nelson 49, Keller Timber Creek 28

It was the Jacob Wilson show as he threw for 453 yards and five scores to power Byron Nelson to a 49-28 win over Keller Timber Creek at Keller ISD Athletic Complex on Friday night.

All 77 points came in the final three quarters as the teams were tied at zero after one, but the second quarter opened with a touchdown run for Timber Creek’s Alec Souimaniphanh.

The scoring flood gates opened from there as the teams combined for 49 points in the quarter, which included three of Wilson’s touchdown throws.

The teams combined for 1,022 yards of offense, but also turned the ball over a combined seven times, including four interceptions by Timber Creek (2-4, 1-1 in District 4-6A).

Byron Nelson (4-3, 1-2) had two receivers — Landon Ransom-Goelz and Gavin McCurley — eclipse 165 yards receiving. The duo also combined to haul in all five touchdown passes. Adam Stellato nearly made it three receivers with 100 yards, finishing the game with eight catches for 93 yards.

Arlington 27, Sam Houston 24

Down 21-7 at halftime, Arlington’s used a 20-3 second half, which included a game-winning field goal to slip past Sam Houston as time expired Friday night.

With four minutes to play in the game, Sam Houston (3-3, 1-1 in District 8-6A) tied the game at 24 with a field goal of its own. Arlington then used all the clock on a 77-yard drive to set up the game-winning field goal for Joe Nelson from 39 yards out.

Rodney Talton Jr. led Arlington (2-5, 1-2) racking up 287 yards on the ground and two touchdowns, while Ryley Zalusky threw for 119 yards.

Justin Tone had 214 total yards and two scores to lead Sam Houston.

Colleyville Heritage 48, Red Oak 21

Despite giving up 468 yards, visiting Colleyville Heritage was able to force four turnovers on the way to a 48-21 blowout win over Red Oak Friday night.

Weston Smith completed 20 passes for 240 yards and two scores for Heritage (5-1, 3-0 in District 4-5A Division 1), which only mustered 297 yards of offense. Smith’s favorite target on the night was Hogan Wasson, who had eight catches for 139 yards.

Red Oak (1-5, 1-3) got 347 yards passing from Jaylon Robinson, which included two 100-yard receivers in Warren Robinson and Jace Wyatt.

Burleson 44, Cleburne 14

Burleson was able to impose its will with its rushing attack, racking up 227 yards as a team on the way to a 44-14 win over Cleburne to retain the Silver Spike Trophy.

Burleson (4-2, 2-1 in District 5-5A Division 2) stifled Cleburne’s rushing attack, which actually lost 12 yards on the night.

The Elks dominated both sides of the ball, racking up 513 total yards of offense and 27 first downs while the Yellow Jackets struggled to get any consistent offensive rhythm with just 163 yards and nine first downs.

Dylan Raiola sparked Burleson on offense with 298 yards passing and five total touchdowns.
