The winner of the latest Dallas-Fort Worth baseball player of the week for games April 8-12, 2019 is Grapevine’s Alex Vergara!
Vergara, who received 45 percent of the votes, threw a complete-game no-hitter and struck out 13 batters vs. Azle on April 9. He added a triple and run batted in against the Hornets on April 12 as the Mustangs completed the sweep.
The ACU commit beat out Braswell pitcher Nick Perry, who received 31 percent after allowing 4 hits, 1 unearned run and 14 strikeouts vs. Denton Ryan on April 9.
LD Bell pitcher and A&M commit Mason Ornelas came in third place after allowing 2 hits with 13 strikeouts in a 1-0 win over Richland on April 12.
