The winner of the latest Dallas-Fort Worth softball player of the week for games April 8-12, 2019 is McKinney North pitcher Kaitlyn Derheim!

Derheim, who received 35 percent of the votes, picked up the win on April 9 vs. Wylie East, pitching 6.2 innings and striking out 6. At the plate, she went 5 for 8 with 2 triples and 4 RBI in wins over East and second-place Lovejoy on April 12 to push McKinney North to 8-0 in District 10-5A. North clinched the top seed.

She beat out Lake Ridge pitcher Chloe Jones, who received 32 percent of the votes after picking up a key district win over Mansfield 5-1 on April 9 to help the Eagles tie up the Tigers in the standings and earn a season sweep.

Jones went the distance and allowed 6 hits while striking out 3 batters.

Arlington Heights’ Stephanie Chico came in third after going 4 for 4 with 2 doubles while going the distance with 11 strikeouts over Southwest on April 12.
