Mansfield Legacy 4-star prospect flips commitment to national powerhouse
With the early signing period less than two weeks away, Mansfield Legacy 4-star cornerback and Texas A&M commit Jeffery Carter has flipped his commitment to Alabama, he announced on Twitter Saturday night.
Carter, a senior, moved to Legacy from Aledo in June. He held 23 scholarship offers from Oklahoma, Georgia, Baylor, Texas, Ohio State and more, per 247Sports.
He’s ranked as the No. 11 CB in the nation, per 247Sports, and the No. 17 overall player in the state.
Carter recorded 42 tackles, five deflections, three interceptions, 450 receiving yards and six touchdowns in two years with Aledo. The Bearcats won the state title in 2016 and were state runner-up in 2017.
Legacy went 6-5 this season and were eliminated by Frisco Lone Star in the bi-district round.
Alabama, which plays Oklahoma on Dec. 29 in the national semifinal at the Orange Bowl, had flipped the top-ranked safety Daxton Hill hours before.
Hill, a 5-star prospect out of Booker T. Washington in Tulsa, was committed with Michigan.
Carter, who had committed to A&M in July, will play in the Under Armour All-American game, Jan. 3 in Orlando, Fla.
The early signing period is from Dec. 19-21.
