You ask some people in the preseason and they would’ve told you Duncanville is the second best team in the state behind Allen.

The Panthers have proved it week after week and now sit at 11-0 and No. 5 in Class 6A. With 12-0 on their sights and a berth into the Division I state quarterfinals, Arlington Lamar (11-1) stands in their way as the two meet 7:30 p.m. Friday at Newsom Stadium.

How they got here: Lamar d. SA Central 55-14, d. Permian 49-35; Duncanville d. SGP 30-14, d. Lewisville 38-0

Last trip to Round 3: Lamar 2015; Duncanville 2016

Vikings: 2015 was the only other to win 11 games in the past 15 seasons. However, the 9-0 start this year was a first since 2003.

Panthers: They’ve turned a corner the past three years, going 33-4 in their last 37 games.
