Six playoff teams, including the Class 6A Division II state runner-up, will participate in two doubleheaders during the third annual Cotton Bowl Stadium Prep Showcase Sept. 7-8.
Mansfield Lake Ridge will kickoff the event on Sept. 7 at 5 p.m. against Waco Midway.
Lake Ridge has reached at least the third round of the playoffs in four-straight years, including the state title game in 2015. Midway went 15-1 last season and lost in the 6A Division II title game vs. Cypress Fair.
Cedar Hill is a three-time state champion, but the Longhorns missed the playoffs in 2017. Guyer won state titles in 2013 and 2014, and has reached the playoffs 10-straight seasons.
Lake Highlands and Plano East will get things started on Saturday at 10 a.m.
Lake Highlands went 6-5 in 2017 for its first winning season since 2012. Plano East only went 3-7 with wins vs. Dallas Jesuit, Wylie and Plano West.
Sachse will then face Euless Trinity at 1:30 p.m. to conclude the event.
Sachse won 12 games a season ago and reached the regional round. Trinity also reached the regional round, the first time the Trojans had gone that far since 2014.
Tickets will be available at each participating school and on game day at Cotton Bowl Stadium. Pre-sale ticket prices at each school will be $6 for students and $8 for adults. Day of game tickets bought at the Cotton Bowl will be $10 each for all ages. More information for the 2018 Cotton Bowl Stadium Prep Showcase is available by visiting.
