Forward David Punch, TCU’s leading scorer this season, enters transfer portal
TCU men’s basketball forward David Punch will enter the transfer portal, he told multiple media outlets on Wednesday night.
It’s a significant blow for the Horned Frogs as the sophomore averaged a team-high 14.1 points, 6.8 rebounds and 1.9 blocks per game. It was a significant step up in production from his freshman season, when he averaged 6.5 points and 4.4 rebounds.
Punch, a former three-star recruit, started 61 games in his career at TCU and played a key role in the Horned Frogs reaching the NCAA Tournament this season.
Along with being the leading scorer, Punch was one of the best defenders in the Big 12 and formed a dominant duo with Xavier Edmonds. Punch is likely to be one of the more coveted players available in the portal due to his versatility and athleticism.
Punch is the sixth player to depart the program as he joins Kayden Edwards, Ashton Simmons, Jace Posey, RJ Jones and Liutaurus Lelevicius.
Edmonds, starting point guard Brock Harding and starting forward Micah Robinson have announced their plans to return.
