TCU women’s basketball surges to match its best finish ever in final AP Top 25
After a second straight Elite Eight appearance, TCU women’s basketball finished No. 6 in the final Associated Press Top 25 unveiled Monday.
It ties the best finish in program history for the Horned Frogs, who also finished sixth last season.
Led by Big 12 Player of the Year and All-American guard Olivia Miles, TCU was successful in matching last year’s magical run, as the Horned Frogs went 32-6 and captured a second straight Big 12 regular-season title. The Horned Frogs also reached the Big 12 Tournament final, but fell to West Virginia (No. 18 in the final poll).
TCU beat UC San Diego, Washington and Virginia to advance to the Elite Eight, where the Horned Frogs were defeated by South Carolina one game away from the Final Four. The Gamecocks finished No. 2 after falling to No. 1 UCLA in the national championship game Sunday.
TCU jumped up eight spots in the final poll after being No. 14 entering the NCAA Tournament.
The Horned Frogs will need to rebuild for next season with key pieces in Miles, All-Big 12 forward Marta Suarez and guard Taylor Bigby set to graduate.
