A third TCU men’s basketball player has announced his intention to enter the transfer portal.
Freshman guard Kayden Edwards is the latest Horned Frog who plans to enter the portal when it officially opens Tuesday. Edwards confirmed multiple reports about his status on his X account Monday.
The former Duncanville star was the second-highest-rated recruit TCU has landed since 2001. The 6-foot-2 Edwards was rated a top-50 recruit in last year’s class and shot up the recruiting rankings because of his shooting ability.
Edwards appeared in just 14 games this season, averaging 3.2 points while shooting 43.5% from 3.
Edwards previously told the Star-Telegram during the NCAA Tournament that he wanted to return to TCU, but things needed to be sorted out. Playing time is believed to be one of the primary factors in his decision.
Though TCU also lost guards RJ Jones and Jace Posey to the portal, the Horned Frogs will return Brock Harding and are also bringing in No. 1-ranked junior college guard Trent Lincoln next season. TCU is also expected to pursue another veteran guard and hopes to retain key reserve Tanner Toolson.
