Fort Worth sports fans are used to seeing 9 p.m. start times when the Rangers, Mavericks or Stars are playing teams in the Pacific time zone.
But not when the game is in Fort Worth.
TCU women’s basketball fans will have to stay up late Sunday to watch the Horned Frogs’ second-round game in the NCAA Tournament. No. 3 seed TCU (30-5) will face No. 6 Washington (22-10) at 9 p.m. Sunday at Schollmaier Arena. The game will be televised on ESPN.
“Schollmaier After Dark,” the TCU women’s basketball X account posted shortly before midnight Friday.
In fairness to the NCAA and ESPN, none of the host sites for Sunday’s games are farther west than the Central time zone. The other hosts are Duke, LSU, Michigan, Minnesota, North Carolina, Oklahoma and Texas. With ESPN apparently determined to put on a sextuple-header Sunday, TCU drew the short straw for the late start.
