TCU basketball notebook: Horned Frogs land another transfer guard
TCU men’s basketball landed another talented guard out of the transfer portal on Sunday.
Providence transfer Jayden Pierre committed to the Horned Frogs on Sunday morning. A rising senior, Pierre was a two-year starter for the Friars and brings plenty of experience.
Last season Pierre averaged a career-high 12.3 points, 2.8 rebounds and a tied a career-high with 3.2 assists per game. Pierre shot 37% from 3 as a sophomore and 34% last season.
Pierre is the second transfer guard to commit to TCU, joining Iowa point guard Brock Harding. The Horned Frogs also are bringing in Duncanville standout Kayden ‘Bugg’ Edwards and are expecting to return RJ Jones and Ashton Simmons.
TCU still has room for another experienced guard or two.
At forward the Horned Frogs are bringing back David Punch and Micah Robinson. All signs also point to Jace Posey and Malick Diallo returning next season as well.
Second player enters transfer portal
TCU women’s basketball forward DaiJa Turner entered the transfer portal on Saturday, becoming the second Horned Frog to hit the portal after TCU’s historic season.
Turner played in just 35 games including nine this past season. Turner averaged less than two minutes per game and will look for a bigger role for her senior season.
