TCU hires former head coach to be linebackers coach

TCU has added another coach to its defensive staff with the addition of new linebackers coach Ken Wilson.

Wilson spent the past two seasons as the head coach of Nevada, where he went 4-20. Wilson previously worked with new defensive coordinator Andy Avalos at Oregon in 2019-20 as the linebackers coach. He spent three seasons with the Ducks.

From 1991-98 and then 2004-12 Wilson was a defensive assistant for Nevada, coaching the defensive ends, linebackers and safeties at different points during his tenure. Wilson then spent 2013-19 as the linebackers coach for Washington State before heading to work with Avalos at Oregon.

At Oregon Wilson helped develop stud linebackers Mase Funa, Noah Sewell and Isaac Slade-Matautia. Wilson also developed multiple all-conference linebackers at Washington State.

Wilson takes over for former defensive coordinator Joe Gillespie, who coached linebackers. Gillespie was dismissed after a disappointing 5-7 season and was replaced by Avalos in December.
