TCU veteran offensive lineman expected to return for 2021 season
TCU football is expected to return another veteran offensive lineman in 2021.
Senior Austin Myers is planning to play for the Horned Frogs in 2021, a source confirmed on Tuesday night.
Myers is a versatile lineman who has played tackle and guard in his time at TCU. He opened last season as the Frogs’ starting left tackle, playing the first three games there. He then started two games at right guard before missing the final four games.
Myers played in 11 games, including four starts at right guard, in 2019. He started nine of 10 games in 2018, including as the right guard against Ohio State that year. He also saw time at left tackle and left guard.
Myers, who is listed at 6-foot-5, 290 pounds, will be entering his sixth season with the program in 2021. He redshirted as a freshman in 2016 and then played in five games in 2017.
TCU is also bringing back senior Blake Hickey, who started the final three games at right guard.
Other returners who started along the offensive line at some point last season include Steve Avila, Coy McMillon, Andrew Coker, John Lanz and Wes Harris.
TCU is losing left tackle T.J. Storment, who entered the NCAA transfer portal, but landed Memphis transfer Obinna Eze. Eze started 25 consecutive games at left tackle for the Tigers.
At the end of the day, TCU should have plenty of depth and competition along the offensive line going into 2021.
