NFL’s Week 2 featured former TCU players stepping up, including Seattle’s Collier
Former TCU players made their presence felt during Week 2 of the NFL season.
Rookie Jalen Reagor made his second straight start for the Philadelphia Eagles, while fellow rookie Jeff Gladney made his first career start with the Minnesota Vikings. Another rookie, Vernon Scott of the Green Bay Packers, registered his first career sack.
But the star of the week was former defensive end L.J. Collier. The Seattle Seahawks’ first-round pick in 2019 made a game-saving tackle on Sunday night, preserving the Seahawks’ victory over the New England Patriots.
Here’s a look at how all the Horned Frogs fared in Week 2:
Ben Banogu, DE, Indianapolis Colts: Banogu finished with two tackles in a victory over the Vikings. He played 12 snaps on defense and 10 on special teams.
Ross Blacklock, DT, Houston Texans: Blacklock was ejected from the Texans-Ravens game for a personal foul penalty in the fourth quarter, a play teammate J.J. Watt described as “selfish” and “stupid” by Blacklock. Blacklock finished with one tackle in the loss on 17 defensive snaps.
L.J. Collier, DE, Seattle Seahawks: Collier made his second career start and came up big with the game-saving tackle of Patriots QB Cam Newton at the end. Collier also batted down a pass, playing 41 snaps on defense.
Andy Dalton, QB, Dallas Cowboys: Dalton officially made his Cowboys debut, playing two snaps when starter Dak Prescott briefly exited with an injury. The Cowboys defeated the Falcons.
Jeff Gladney, CB, Minnesota Vikings: Gladney, a first-round pick by the Vikings, made his first career NFL start. He finished with six tackles in a loss to the Colts. Gladney played 60 of 73 defensive snaps.
Jerry Hughes, DE, Buffalo Bills: The veteran started for the second straight game, registering one QB hit and one pass defended in the Bills’ victory over the Dolphins.
Joe Noteboom, OL, Los Angeles Rams: Noteboom started at left guard for the second straight week, but exited with a calf injury. He played 40 of the 69 offensive snaps as the Rams downed the Eagles.
Matt Pryor, OG/OT, Philadelphia Eagles: Pryor played 46 snaps at guard and three more on special teams in a loss to the Rams.
Jalen Reagor, WR, Philadelphia Eagles: Reagor started for the second straight week, finishing with four catches for 41 yards on four targets in the Eagles’ loss to the Rams. He played 60 of 71 offensive snaps.
Austin Schlottmann, OG/C, Denver Broncos: Schlottmann saw action on four special teams plays in the Broncos’ loss to the Steelers.
Vernon Scott, S, Green Bay Packers: Scott had his first career sack in the Packers’ victory over the Lions. He finished with two tackles, including one on special teams. He played five snaps on defense and 16 on special teams.
Ty Summers, LB, Green Bay Packers: Summers didn’t register any stats in 23 special teams snaps as the Packers defeated the Lions.
