Heavy rainfall, thunderstorms delay TCU at Iowa State football two hours

Today’s TCU-Iowa State football game in Ames has been delayed two hours with heavy rainfall and thunderstorms in the area.

Iowa State athletic director Jamie Pollard made the announcement on Twitter, writing: “Official announcement to be made shortly but after consulting with the Big 12, TCU, ESPN and the National Weather Service, our game will be delayed until 1 pm.”

Kickoff is set for 1 p.m. at Jack Trice Stadium and the game is scheduled to be televised on ESPN2.

This is not the first Iowa State game to be delayed. When Iowa visited last month, that game was delayed multiple times due to weather. The Cyclones’ opener last season had to be postponed because of stormy conditions.

TCU knew weather could be a factor going into the game.

As senior right guard David Bolisomi said earlier this week, “Whatever weather shows up, you’ve got to play in it.

“It’s just like the Baylor game my freshman year (2015) when it was pouring down rain. Whatever Mother Nature wants to give us, we’ve got to be ready for it.”

TCU (3-1) is coming off an impressive 51-14 victory over Kansas to open conference play. Iowa State (2-2) lost its Big 12 opener at Baylor 23-21.
