How did TCU’s womens soccer team do against Texas A&M?
The TCU women’s soccer team had its best season in program history, winning its first NCAA Tournament game. Unfortunately for the Lady Frogs, it didn’t extend past the opening round.
No. 8 Texas A&M scored two second-half goals and went on to a 2-0 victory over TCU in the second round of the NCAA Tournament on Friday in Knoxville, Tennessee.
TCU finished its season 13-5-3, reaching the NCAA Tournament for the third consecutive season.
“It wasn’t our day today,” coach Eric Bell said. “It wasn’t our best showing. Unfortunately we weren’t as sharp as I thought we were going to be. But hats off to A&M for doing what they did. I am proud of our group and the season that we had. It is definitely a stepping stone moving forward in our program.”
TCU and A&M were scoreless at halftime, but A&M broke through in the 52nd minute. Ally Watt scored from about 20 yards, getting it past TCU goalie Emily Alvarado.
Then A&M put the game out of reach in the 76th minute, scoring on a corner kick. Addie McCain put it in the corner of the net off a deflection from the top of the penalty box.
Alvarado finished the game with eight saves, including five in the second half for TCU.
