As TCU gears up to the play in the national championship, fans can’t get enough of the purple and white merchandise.

The Horned Frogs take on the Georgia Bulldogs in the College Football Playoff National Championship at 6:30 p.m. Monday at SoFi Stadium in Inglewood, California. ESPN will broadcast the game on television and radio.

It’s understandable that TCU fans are excited. This is the Horned Frogs’ first ever appearance in the championship game since the College Football Playoff era began in 2014. The last time TCU won a national collegiate football title was back in 1938.

It has been a special season for TCU — from Max Duggan’s meteoric stardom to the thrilling humbling of the Michigan Wolverines in the Fiesta Bowl.

TCU’s campus bookstore has been selling merchandise like hotcakes ahead of next week’s championship game, said Sarah Wright, the store’s operations manager.

“Anything and everything is selling,” Wright added.

The bookstore has a variety of clothing options for both male and female, including t-shirts, sweatshirts, hats and shorts. Fans can even buy a Horned Frog stuffed animal.

Wright said that sales of virtually every item have increased since TCU punched their national championship ticket. The hottest selling items at the moment are player’s jerseys — more specifically quarterback Max Duggan’s No. 15.

The bookstore has Fiesta Bowl victory merchandise, from long and short sleeve shirts, to hats and lanyards. The store even has a national championship shirt on shelves, teasing the TCU and Georgia matchup.

The plan for Monday’s game is to have a merchandise stand at Ed and Rae Schollmaier Arena during the campus watch party, Wright said. Before that, the bookstore will be open normal hours from 8 a.m. to 6 p.m. at 2950 W. Berry St.

For TCU fans catching the game in California, a bookstore crew is already en route to host and sell gear at two pop-up events. One pop-up will be at the Beverly Hills Marriott Hotel and another at an alumni event in Santa Monica, where 5,000 to 6,000 people are expected, Wright said.

If anyone is looking for TCU gear ahead of Monday’s game, Wright encourages people to head to the bookstore and buy what they need. She’s hopeful the Horned Frogs will win and said the bookstore expects a ton of business if they do.

“We’ll probably keep selling into April,” Wright said.
