This is the TCU Horned Frogs’ first trip to the national title game since the College Football Playoff era began in 2014.

You’d have to go way, way back for the last time TCU won a national collegiate football title. The year was 1938, when Seabiscuit bested War Admiral at Pimlico and Superman first appeared in Action Comics No. 1.

That was 85 long years ago.

No wonder Fort Worth is excited.

It has been a special season for TCU — from Max Duggan’s meteoric stardom to the thrilling humbling of the Michigan Wolverines in the Fiesta Bowl.

But for TCU fans who can’t make the trip to SoFi Stadium in Inglewood, California, Jan. 9 for the College Football Playoff National Championship game, they do have a way to cheer for their Horned Frogs from the stands in their hometown?

TCU will host a free watch party for fans staying in town on its campus at the Ed and Rae Schollmaier Arena, 2900 Stadium Drive, Monday.

Doors open at 5:30 p.m. and the game starts at 6:30 p.m.

Cashless concession stands will be open and only clear bags are allowed inside. Free rally towels will be given away at the event and other TCU merchandise will be available for purchase.

Another free watch party will be held at Downtown Cowtown at the Isis Theater in the Fort Worth Stockyards.

Horned Frog fans will get to to watch the TCU vs. Georgia game on the historic theater’s big screen with doors open for the event at 4 p.m. Downtown Cowtown will also feature their newest cocktail drink, the purple “The Riff Ram,” in their cocktail bar.

Crockett Row is also hosting a block party giving TCU fans another place to root for the Horned Frogs. Two large television screens will be set up near the intersection of Crockett and Currie streets. Bars and restaurants in the area will be participating, and food trucks will be on hand for additional food choices.

The party will start at 5 p.m. and end at 2 a.m.

For fans wanting to host their own watch parties, the CFP National Championship game will be on ESPN.

ESPN can be streamed on DIRECTV Stream, fuboTV, Hulu, Sling and Youtube TV.
