Dallas-Fort Worth area had warmest December on record with 8 days in the 80s
December was a record-breaking month for weather in the Dallas-Fort Worth area.
Tuesday marked the eighth 80-degree day in December for DFW. The National Weather Service announced on its social media that prior to this year the most 80-degree days in December was five in 1977.
The highest temperature for December this year was 83 degrees on Dec. 10, according to climate data compiled by the National Weather Service.
On Christmas Day, the temperature in DFW reached 81 degrees just before 2 p.m., breaking the previous high of 80 degrees in 2016. The high for Christmas Day later maxed out at 82 degrees, according to the National Weather Service.
The DFW area on Saturday was expecting an arctic front to hit: Temperatures are expected to drop Saturday night in Fort Worth, and Sunday will be sunny with high temperatures in the low to mid 40s.
