North Texas reached record high Christmas Day temperatures just before 2 p.m. on Saturday at 81 in both Dallas-Fort Worth and Waco. The previous high was 80 and 79, respectively, in 2016.

Forecasters with the National Weather Service said the high on Saturday was projected to reach 84 in the Fort Worth area.

An elevated fire danger was issued for several counties west and northwest of Fort Worth on Christmas Day due to the warm weather and dry conditions. The warm temperatures will stick for several days.
