Tropical Storm Beta expected to bring rain, gusty winds to Fort Worth
Tropical Storm Beta is expected to hit the Texas coast early this week with 60 mph and heavy rainfall, but North Texas shouldn’t see much in the way of severe weather.
National Weather Service meteorologist David Bonnette said Fort Worth and the surrounding area should expect intermittent rain along with thunderstorms from Monday afternoon through Wednesday, but no dangerous weather is expected as a result of the tropical storm.
There may be some heavy rainfall and gusty winds early in the week. Rain chances will hover around 70% Monday and Monday night, 60% Tuesday and 30% Wednesday. The rain will keep high temperatures in the 70s each day.
Beta is forecast to remain a tropical storm as it makes landfall north of Corpus Christi after midnight Tuesday. That area should expect around 10 to 15 inches of rain along with those 60 mph winds.
“It’s expected to stay at a tropical storm force, so it won’t be the strongest storm or the weakest storm,” Bonnette said. “It should be somewhere in the middle.”
