COVID-19 hasn’t slowed construction of this Fort Worth hospital’s new patient tower

The novel coronavirus pandemic may be wreaking havoc on schedules and plans across the world, but a Texas Health Resources construction project isn’t one of them.

Construction on the $300 million Jane and John Justin Patient Surgical Tower is moving ahead, with the foundation of the structure complete in marking a milestone, according to a news release.

The project at Texas Health Harris Methodist Hospital Fort Worth is the largest in Texas Health Resources history, according to the release.

It will expand the hospital’s capacity and operation ability by 144 patient beds, 15 surgical suites and new pre-operative and post-operative units to the campus in Fort Worth.

The hospital has required personal protective equipment for anybody working at the construction site, as well as taken temperatures, practiced social distancing and wiped down equipment after each use.

Construction is expected to be completed in early 2022.
