A hot weekend with possible severe storms is coming to North Texas, NWS says

Severe weather is possible in North Texas over the next few days.

It’s a low threat; however, isolated severe storms are capable of producing large hail and damaging winds, according to the National Weather Service Fort Worth. Storm coverage will be isolated to scattered from Thursday, April 23, through Sunday, April 26.

The NWS has released the following on the most likely areas for severe storms each day:

  • Thursday- A 10% chance for northwest counties between the Metroplex and Wichita Falls.
  • Friday, April 24- A 20-40% chance for northeast counties near the Texas, Arkansas and Louisiana border.
  • Saturday, April 25- A 20-30% chance mainly north of Interstate 20.
  • Sunday- A 15% chance for north and northeast counties.

Not every area in North Texas will see storms, according to the NWS. In fact, most likely won’t.

Spring heat this weekend

Thursday’s daily high will be right around 80 degrees.

Temperatures will heat up heading into the weekend, according to the NWS. Highs on Friday and Saturday will be in the upper 80s, followed by the low 90s on Sunday.

A glance at next week shows temperatures ranging from the mid-80s to low 90s. Rain chances will also be back in the forecast by midweek.
