Billy Bob Thornton appears in new film premiering soon at North Texas festival
A new movie featuring “Landman” star Billy Bob Thornton will have its world premiere in North Texas this weekend.
The Dallas International Film Festival will screen “Round Pegs Square Holes: Art vs. Commerce in Deep Ellum” at 5:45 p.m. on Friday, April 24, at the Texas Theatre. The documentary follows the rebirth of Dallas’ Deep Ellum neighborhood from a “relative ghost town to a thriving music district.”
Michael Dunaway and Russell David Hobbs co-directed the film that features interviews with Thornton, former Dallas Mavericks owner Mark Cuban, Fort Worth band the Toadies and many more.

Billy Bob Thornton film to premiere at DIFF
While known for his long acting career, Thornton has played in a band for two decades.
Thornton formed The Boxmasters in 2006, and the band has churned out 19 albums since. Their next album, “In The Bay,” releases June 12.
The band is embarking on a tour this summer, with a planned stop in Fort Worth at Billy Bob’s Texas in July.
The Deep Ellum project is one of more than 120 films playing this year’s Dallas International Film Festival, which is April 23-30.
Other films with North Texas ties playing the festival include “Mantis,” “$10 Cowboy,” “One in a Million,” “Crystal Cross,” “Blood Behind Us” and “Thank You For Listening.”
