Don’t put away your big jackets just yet. Another cold front is on the way
The snow and ice may be melting away, but the freezing weather is here to stay — for a while, at least.
The National Weather Service Fort Worth is predicting a strong cold front to roll in this weekend, with wind chills as low as five degrees.
Madison Gordon from the NWS Fort Worth office told the Star-Telegram that the coldest days this weekend will be from Friday evening into Saturday morning.
Precipitation is not a threat– for now. Tuesday and Wednesday next week pose possible showers. But for this weekend, the main concern is cold temperatures.
Cold front rolls into North Texas for the weekend
The Fort Worth NWS predicts a cold front to roll in on Thursday night. The low will be around 26 with wind speeds up to 20 miles per hour.
The remainder of the weekend, Friday through Sunday, will be chilly, Gordon said. But the coldest day will be Saturday with the high temperature right around 32 degrees.
“Friday night into Saturday morning, wind chill will probably get around as cold as five degrees,” said Gordon. “And it’s going to be colder up to the northern parts of the metroplex, into the Red River.”
When will it rain next in Fort Worth?
A chance for showers is not present until Tuesday or Wednesday of next week.
After the weekend cold front, weather will warm up to the 50s on Monday. And chances for precipitation are between 20 to 40 percent for the mid-week.
