No Fort Worth trash pickup Wednesday; Arlington also delays garbage pickups

Roads that were icy Tuesday morning improved in the afternoon, but, “anything that melts during the day is going to refreeze at night,” said NWS meteorologist Allison Prater.

Freezing fog that could deposit a light ice accumulation on roads and other surfaces is also in the forecast for Tuesday night, and drivers are urged to use extreme caution during their Wednesday morning commute due to black ice and refrozen roads. Most schools in Tarrant County have announced closures for Wednesday.

With how hazardous the roads are, will you still be able to get your trash picked up? Here’s what to know.

Will Fort Worth have trash pickup on Wednesday?

No. According to an update on the City of Fort Worth’s website, no residential collections for garbage, recycling, yard waste or bulk waste will happen on Wednesday, Jan. 28. The city previously canceled trash pickup for Monday and Tuesday as well. Any more updates will be posted on the city’s website.

All Monday, Tuesday and Wednesday routes will resume regular schedules next week on Feb. 2, 3 and 4, respectively. If you have excess trash because of this week’s missed collections, you can put extra bags of trash next to your brown garbage bin, the city said.

Will Arlington have trash pickup on Wednesday?

Also no. According to an email from the City of Arlington, Republic Services postponed garbage and recycling collections for Wednesday, Jan. 26, and the landfill will also be closed. Wednesday trash will be collected Thursday, Thursday trash will be collected Friday and Friday trash will be collected Saturday, the city said.

Updates will be posted at the City of Arlington’s website.
