Strong to severe storms in the mix for Fort Worth as May ends and June begins

Sunny days and stormy weather are both in store for North Texas this weekend.

Conditions will be warm and sunny on Friday, May 30, and much of Saturday, May 31, according to the National Weather Service Fort Worth. A set of thunderstorms is expected to move south from the Red River area into the Metroplex overnight Saturday into Sunday, June 1.

Storms could arrive in the region by midnight Saturday, push south Sunday morning and wrap up by the afternoon, the NWS said. A few strong to severe storms are possible, with hail and strong winds as the main threats.

Storm chances continue next week

Daily storm chances are in the mix for North Texas for much of next week.

An incoming front and dryline are the culprits for the stormy activity, according to the NWS. Some storms may be severe next week, with the highest chances on Tuesday, June 3, and Wednesday, June 4.

The NWS said it will have more details on timing, threats and locations as the event gets closer. As of Friday, May 30, here’s how things are looking for next week:

  • Monday, June 2- 20% chance of storms
  • Tuesday, June 3- 30% chance of storms
  • Wednesday, June 4- 50% chance of storms
  • Thursday, June 5- 40% chance of storms
