Hail, tornadoes possible in North Texas. See when severe storms arrive Monday
After a severe weather weekend, North Texas will see one more round of storms on Monday, May 19.
The main window for severe weather Monday is from 4 to 10 p.m., with the core risk in areas north and east of the Metroplex.
Large, baseball-sized hail, damaging winds and a few tornadoes are possible with this activity. The tornado threat is higher Monday than in the last several days, according to the NWS.
Minor injuries and major building damage were reported in Gordon after a tornado warning on May 18. Social media video appears to show multiple tornadoes in Palo Pinto County. National Weather Service Fort Worth survey teams are assessing storm damage Monday in Eastland, Stephens, Palo Pinto and Parker counties.
Storms are expected to exit the region around midnight as a cold front rolls in.
Low storm chances later this week
After an active Monday, conditions will be dry and sunny for a couple of days before storm chances return later in the week.
Temperatures will be in the low to upper 80s on Tuesday, May 20, and Wednesday, May 21, according to the NWS. Skies are expected to be sunny and rain-free over those days.
Come Thursday, May 22, there’s a low chance (20-30%) for isolated thunderstorms. The NWS said it’s too early to determine specific coverage areas, although areas closer to the Red River are expected to have higher coverage.
Low isolated thunderstorm chances will continue on Friday, May 23, primarily in the evening hours.
