Fort Worth will see break in storms Thursday before rain returns this weekend

After a rainy April 30, conditions are warm and sunny in North Texas on Thursday, May 1.

Dallas Fort Worth International Airport recorded 2.42 inches of rain on April 30, according to climate data from the National Weather Service Fort Worth. In Fort Worth, Alliance Airport recorded 1.91 inches of rain during the day.

Conditions will be different for most of the day on Thursday, according to the NWS. Sunny and rain-free skies are on the docket for much of the Metroplex, along with temperatures in the upper 80s.

Storm chances increase late Thursday

By late Thursday, a cold front will move into the region and bring strong to severe storm chances.

These storms will stick around overnight and into Friday, May 2, with the main threats being large hail, damaging winds and a tornado or two, according to the NWS. A weakening trend is expected as storms reach the Interstate 20 corridor Friday morning.

Storms will continue moving south over the Metroplex throughout Friday, with rain and thunderstorms in the mix in the afternoon.
