Severe storms in the mix for Fort Worth. See when hail and rain arrive this week
Another round of strong to severe storms is expected in North Texas late Tuesday, April 29.
Thunderstorm chances will increase Tuesday evening through Wednesday, April 30, as an upper-level disturbance moves into the region, according to the National Weather Service Fort Worth. Severe storms are expected to stay north of the Metroplex around the Red River area.
Heading into Wednesday, storms and widespread showers are in the forecast for much of North and Central Texas.
The highest potential for severe weather will be Wednesday afternoon and evening, with large hail, damaging winds and tornadoes all possible, according to the NWS. The tornado threat will exist for much of Wednesday, but may increase in the evening hours as low level winds become more favorable.
Flash flooding will also be a threat Wednesday. Average rainfall amounts of 1 to 3 inches are anticipated through Wednesday, according to the NWS.
More storms later in the week
Additional storms are in the North Texas forecast later in the week.
A weak front will bring scattered showers and storms to the region, more specifically Central Texas, on Thursday, May 1, into Friday, May 2, according to the NWS. If these storms become severe, the main threat will be large hail and damaging winds.
Lower rain chances will stick around over the weekend, with the best possibilities in areas west and southwest of the Metroplex.
