Flight cancellations and delays were adding up Wednesday morning at Dallas-Fort Worth International Airport as winter weather disrupted travel across much of the country.

As of 2 p.m., at least 150 incoming or outgoing flights were canceled at DFW, and more than 700 flights were delayed, according to FlightAware. Roughly 2 in 5 flights were experiencing delays.

The delays and cancellations at DFW come despite North Texas being spared from significant snow or ice accumulation. The airport, one of the biggest in the world, is a major hub that is affected by adverse weather elsewhere in the country.

American Airlines, based in Fort Worth, was dealing with the most schedule interruptions among the nation’s carriers. About 700 of its scheduled flights had been delayed and nearly 200 canceled.

Those numbers are likely to rise throughout the day as a winter storm hits the Mid-Atlantic.

Dallas Love Field was also seeing delays and cancellations.

“Due to winter weather, please check with your airline for current flight statuses,” Love Field’s social media account posted. “Remember to drive slow if you must be on the road and stay warm.”

A travel alert has also been issued by the American Airlines allowing customers traveling to and from Dallas-Fort Worth affected by the winter weather to rebook their flights without change fees.
