Temperatures on Thursday in North Texas will be near or above freezing amid the snowfall. In Central Texas, a rain/snow mix is more likely along with possible light icing or sleet.
Currently, the forecast is showing 1 to 2 inches of wintry precipitation in and around the Dallas-Fort Worth Metroplex. Heavier amounts from 2 to 5 inches are possible in northern counties near the Red River.
Snow and ice or a combination of both will likely impact travel Thursday, the NWS said. Anything that melts on Thursday will refreeze again that evening as overnight temperatures dip into the mid-20s.
The weather system will exit the region by midday Friday, however, impacts could linger through early Saturday, Jan. 11. Temperatures will warm up Saturday into the 40s and 50s.
