Hail and tornadoes possible in Dallas-Fort Worth. How severe could it get out there?
Damaging winds, hail and a few tornadoes are possible in Dallas-Fort Worth this weekend.
An area of low pressure will approach North and Central Texas on Sunday, Nov. 17, which will help draw moisture northward from the Gulf of Mexico, according to the National Weather Service Fort Worth.
A cold front is expected to move into the region around the same time on Sunday evening. A line of thunderstorms are likely to precede the front, with the main threat being damaging winds.
Other possible threats on Sunday night into Monday, Nov. 18, include hail and tornadoes, according to the NWS
Heavy rainfall ranging from 1.5 to 2 inches is expected along and north of the Interstate 20 corridor on Sunday night.
According to the NWS, there’s a 10% chance of rainfall totals between 4-5 inches north of Interstate 20 and west/along Interstate 35.
By Monday afternoon, the line of storms are expected to move east out of the North Texas region.
