Tornado watch issued for North Texas. Where possible ‘damaging winds,’ hail could hit

A tornado watch has been issued for some areas near Dallas-Fort Worth until 9 p.m. Friday, Nov. 8.

Palo Pinto, Parker, Tarrant, Dallas, Collin, Denton, Johnson and Wise counties in North Texas initially were all under the watch. The National Weather Service Fort Worth issued the watch around 1:55 p.m. Friday.

The watch was later canceled in most counties, but it remains in effect for Ellis, Kaufman and Navarro counties.

Damaging winds, large hail and a few tornadoes are all possible Friday, per the NWS.

Strong to severe storms were expected for much of Friday, especially in the afternoon and evening hours.

Along with the tornadic threats, Texans can expect potential heavy rain and isolated flash flooding on Friday. The NWS is encouraging residents to stay weather aware and alert.
