Heat advisory continues in Dallas-Fort Worth. It could feel 109 degrees this weekend

Dallas-Fort Worth is under a heat advisory for the third day in a row.

Temperatures are forecast to reach 101 degrees Thursday, along with heat index values up to 109 degrees, according to the National Weather Service Fort Worth office.

The heat advisory in effect until 9 p.m. Thursday for much of the North Texas region.

This is the third day in a row that a heat advisory has been issued for the region. The NWS recommends the following to avoid heat-related illnesses:

  • Never leave kids or pets unattended in vehicles.
  • Drink plenty of water, even if not thirsty.
  • Spend time in the air conditioning.
  • Take frequent rest breaks in the shade or air conditioning.
  • Wear lightweight, light-colored, and loose-fitting clothing.

Hot weekend ahead for Dallas-Fort Worth

After a sweltering mid-week, North Texans are in store for more heat over the weekend.

Temperatures on Friday could reach 102 degrees, along with heat index values up to 109 degrees. Saturday’s high ticks up to 103 degrees, followed by an even higher 104 degrees on Sunday.

Early next week will continue the hot streak. Here’s a look at the 7-day temperature forecast:

  • Thursday: 101 degrees
  • Friday: 102 degrees
  • Saturday: 103 degrees
  • Sunday: 104 degrees
  • Monday: 103 degrees
  • Tuesday: 100 degrees
  • Wednesday: 100 degrees

The North Texas region has recorded 15 days over 100 degrees this year thus far.
