Dallas-Fort Worth area under tornado watch; large hail and damaging winds in forecast

The National Weather Service issued a tornado watch until 9 p.m. Wednesday for several North Texas counties, including Tarrant, Dallas, Denton and Collin.

Severe thunderstorms are likely near Interstate 35 on Wednesday afternoon and evening. Tornadoes, large hail, and damaging winds are possible, the weather service said.

The heavy rain in the stronger storms could produce localized flooding, the weather service said.

The storms are expected to move to the east side of the Dallas-Fort Worth metropolitian area Wednesday evening.
