Heavy rain, large hail in Wednesday forecast for Tarrant County and North Texas
Remember the large hail and heavy rain that fell on some neighborhoods of Tarrant County on Sunday morning?
Chances are good there could be a repeat in the Dallas-Fort Worth area on Wednesday, according to the National Weather Service in Fort Worth.
There’s a 70 percent chance of showers and thunderstorms on Wednesday just ahead of a cold front that will arrive in Fort Worth.
“It could be a one-two punch on Wednesday,” said meteorologist David Bonnette on Tuesday. “Early Wednesday, the storms could be in the Red River area and a few may drift south. Then by late morning and early afternoon, the severe weather is possible for Tarrant County.”
That severe weather might include large hail, damaging winds, heavy rain and isolated tornadoes.
The heavy rain in the stronger storms could produce localized flooding, Bonnette said.
Storms are expected to move to the east side of the DFW Metroplex on Wednesday afternoon and evening.
The high temperature on Wednesday should be about 80 degrees.
North Texans will get to dry out on Thursday under a sunny sky and temperatures in the lower 80s.
Rain chances return briefly on Friday night, but the weekend looks dry in Tarrant County and most of North Texas.
