Driver killed after crashing into light pole in east Fort Worth, police say

A man was killed in east Fort Worth late Monday, Feb. 17, when his vehicle crashed into a light pole, officials said.

Officers were dispatched to Meadowbrook Boulevard near Eastchase Parkway about 10:15 p.m. Someone reported that a vehicle had hit a pole in front of Chicken Express, according to the 911 call sheet.

The driver died at the scene, according to MedStar. The Tarrant County Medical Examiner’s Office has identified him as 54-year-old Clifton Dedrick Wright.

A witness told officers that the driver was speeding and lost control of the vehicle, police said. The vehicle hit the median before smashing into the pole.

The Traffic Investigation Unit is leading the investigation into the fatal crash, according to police.
