A motorist escaped serious injuries early Friday when his vehicle was hit as he tried to beat a train at a crossing in south Fort Worth, police said.

The driver refused medical attention at the scene after the accident.

Fort Worth police officers responded to the accident involving a train and a vehicle just before 2:30 a.m. Friday in the 600 block of Page Avenue.

Authorities said it appeared that the driver tried to beat the train to the crossing when his vehicle was clipped.
