Planning a camping trip in Texas might be easier than you think, especially if you’re looking for one of the best spots in the country.

Two campgrounds in the state just landed at the very top of Campspot’s national ranking for 2026. Campspot is an online booking marketplace for premier RV resorts, family campgrounds, cabins, glamping options, and more, according to its website.

One North Texas location took the No. 1 spot, while another well-known destination in Central Texas came in at No. 2.

Both offer very different types of stays, depending on what you’re looking for.

Here’s what to know.

Which Texas campgrounds landed among the top in the country?

The Vineyards Campground & Cabins in Grapevine took the No. 1 spot, while Camp Fimfo Texas Hill Country in New Braunfels came in right behind it at No. 2.

The rankings are based on millions of data points, including guest reviews, booking trends, family-friendly amenities, glamping opportunities and other park features.

The Grapevine location is more laid back, centered around a quiet lakeside setting, while the New Braunfels spot leans more into a resort-style experience.

Both offer a mix of outdoor stays and attractions that give you plenty to do.

What is the No. 1 campground in Texas like?

The Vineyards Campground & Cabins in Grapevine is located right on Grapevine Lake.

You can book an RV site or stay in a fully furnished cabin, so you don’t have to give up comfort to be outdoors.

The campground includes a private sandy beach, along with fishing areas and space for kayaking, plus a playground and on-site conveniences like a camp store and laundry access.

Campers are also just minutes from Grapevine’s Historic Main Street, which features restaurants, shops and local wineries.

What is the No. 2 campground in Texas like?

Camp Fimfo Texas Hill Country in New Braunfels delivers a much more activity-driven experience, with a setup that feels closer to a resort along the Guadalupe River.

You’ll still find RV sites and cabins, but there are also upgraded options like glamping stays.

The property includes a water park, pools, playgrounds and attractions like an alpine coaster.

There’s also on-site dining and spaces to relax throughout the property. It’s built to be a destination on its own, where you don’t have to leave to find entertainment.
