Gas prices are rising in Texas. Here’s how prices compare statewide
Gas prices are around $4 a gallon nationwide, and drivers across Texas are feeling the increase.
AAA data shows the statewide average for regular gas is about $3.67 per gallon, which is about six cents higher than this time last week and about 93 cents more than this time last year.
That increase is now showing up in Tarrant County.
But if you think you’re paying a lot, it may be even higher in other parts of the state.
Here’s what to know.
How much are drivers paying for gas in Tarrant County?
In Tarrant County, drivers are paying around $3.59 per gallon for regular gas, up from about $2.60 per gallon a month ago, according to AAA.
Mid-grade gas is averaging about $4.01 per gallon, while premium is around $4.37 per gallon.
Diesel prices are even higher, averaging about $4.93 per gallon in the area, up from around $3.27 per gallon a month ago.
“Although day-to-day fluctuations are normal, the biggest factor remains the price of crude oil, and because it is traded globally, developments overseas can quickly affect what drivers pay here at home,” AAA spokesperson Daniel Armbruster said.
Where is gas most expensive in Texas right now?
El Paso has some of the highest gas prices in Texas, with drivers paying around $3.94 per gallon for regular gas, according to AAA.
Midland is also among the most expensive areas, averaging about $3.85 per gallon.
In contrast, drivers in the Amarillo area are paying closer to $3.27 per gallon, among the lowest in the state.
That’s a difference of about 67 cents per gallon depending on where you fill up.
