Taking home a six-figure check may seem like a lot of money, but how much do Texans actually need to make to take home that pay?

Texans are taxed on a few things, including federal income, social security, and Medicare. This means that a person’s salary number will likely not match their take-home income.

Personal finance company GoBankingRates put together a study on just how much Texans need to earn to take home six figures. Here’s what to know:

Texans need to earn at least $137,290 to actually take home $100,000, according to GoBankingRates.

Texas is tied with seven other states for the lowest salary needed to earn six figures, joining Florida, Nevada, New Hampshire, South Dakota, Tennessee, Washington, and Wyoming.

The five states with the highest salary needed to take home $100,000 include:

  • Oregon: $156,280
  • Maryland: $154,850
  • Hawaii: $154,840
  • California: $153,700
  • Maine: $151,640
