Amber Alert: Kidnapped baby found safe in North Texas; one of two suspects in custody

Authorities said Friday afternoon that a 7-month-old boy who was abducted by his mother in Ennis on Thursday was found safe in Parker County. Police said the child’s mother is in custody.

Authorities were still searching for a man accused of being involved in the kidnapping. Earlier Friday, police identified the man they believe helped Faith Reid abduct her child as Marcus Nast, 25, according to the Texas Department of Public Safety.

Ennis police issued warrants for Reid and Nast on felony aggravated assault with a deadly weapon charges related to the kidnapping, the Parker County Sheriff’s Office said in a news release.

Authorities were searching for Marcus Nast, 25, described as a white man, about 5 feet 11 inches tall and 168 pounds. He has brown hair, brown eyes and numerous tattoos, including on his neck and face. He was last seen wearing a red shirt with blue jeans.

The Parker County Sheriff’s Fugitive Apprehension Strike Team received a tip that the white Ford F-150 extended cab pickup driven by the suspects was on Old Dicey Road with Reid and the child inside the truck. Nast was reported to be walking on in the area. FAST members arrived within moments and detained Reid and took custody of the infant, Sheriff Russ Authier said in the release.

Strike team members reported the truck had run out of gas and was parked on the side of the road.

Authier said the baby appears to be in good health and is expected to be reunited with his father.

“We could not be happier that the child was located unharmed and the female suspect was taken into custody without incident,” Authier said Friday. “We are still searching for the male suspect. Anyone with information about the location of the suspect is encouraged to contact their local law enforcement agency immediately.”

Police said Reid, 20, and Nast took the baby boy, Miguel Ramirez, around 10:30 a.m. Thursday from a home in the 900 block of North Shawnee Street in Ennis. A Texas Amber Alert was issued Thursday in the search for the child.

Police said Miguel’s father, identified by Star-Telegram media partner WFAA-TV as Joey Ramirez, followed the two out of the house and got into an altercation with Nast. They said Nast pulled a gun on the father and threatened to shoot him.

Reid and Nast then got into the Ford F-150 and fled the area, according to police.

Ramirez said he was in the restroom when the pair came into his home to take Miguel, WFAA reported.

“Words can’t describe it,” Ramirez told WFAA. “I don’t think she cares about the kid at all and did this because she hates me. I never thought somebody would steal my child from my own home with me there.”

Police asked anybody with information on the whereabouts of Nast to call 911 immediately. You can remain anonymous when contacting tip411. You can submit tips online to tip411 or by logging onto www.parkercountysheriff.net or by calling Parker County Crime Stoppers at (817) 599-5555.
