Thursday is the last day to register to vote in the May 7 county and state elections in Texas.

You can register online at the VoteTexas.gov website for free. The application is short and requires personal information such as your name, date of birth and residency, to become a registered voter.

Several state and city propositions are on the May ballot in Tarrant County, along with local school board races. In Fort Worth, two seats on the school district’s board are up for grabs.

Those wanting to check their voter registration status can visit the Texas Secretary of State’s website to verify it. Voters can also preview a sample ballot by checking the Tarrant County site, which is gisit.tarrantcounty.com/TCVL.

Early voting for the May 7 election runs from April 25 to May 3 at several locations across the county.

Texas law requires eligible voters be registered 30 days before election day.
