Missing woman found dead in shallow grave, Pennsylvania cops say. ‘Took my baby’
Police in Pennsylvania are investigating after they said a missing woman was found dead in a shallow grave.
Melody Rivera, 29, was last seen on Oct. 31, according to a news release from the Philadelphia Police Department.
Family members told news outlets they looked for Rivera for days before she was found.
“We went every single day, hours, hours at a time looking for my sister,” Martha Lee Fred told WTXF. “She didn’t deserve to be buried in a park. She didn’t deserve that.”
Rivera was found buried in a “shallow grave” near Champions Park Playground on Nov. 7, police told WCAU.
Rivera was a mother to an 11-year-old girl, family members told WTXF.
“My granddaughter’s suffering,” Maritza Garcia, Rivera’s mother, told WPVI. “It’s like I’ve never felt (this) heartbroken in my life. Took my baby from me.”
Police told the news outlet Rivera’s boyfriend is a person of interest and they are looking for him.
“On my soul, I won’t stop until justice for my sister is served,” Fred told WTXF.
Officials have not released a cause of death.
