Missing 68-year-old woman’s body found in mobile home freezer, Las Vegas cops say
Officers checking on a 68-year-old woman reported missing found her body inside a locked freezer in her mobile home, Las Vegas police reported.
Officers discovered the body at a mobile home park in east Las Vegas at about 11:40 a.m. Wednesday, Nov. 6, Lt. Jason Johansson of the Las Vegas Metropolitan Police Department said in a briefing in a video originally posted by KTNV.
A neighbor notified police the woman had not been seen walking her dog as normal since late October, Johansson said.
The neighbor also reported seeing suspicious activity at the woman’s mobile home, he said.
Officers responded to check on the woman and entered the home to ensure her safety after no one answered the door, Johansson said.
They found a man and woman inside who were behaving suspiciously, he said.
Officers searched the mobile home and found a locked chest freezer, which they called a locksmith to open, Johannson said.
They found the body of woman matching the description of the missing resident inside, he said.
Homicide detectives are investigating the case as a suspicious death, Johansson said.
The two people found in the home have been detained.
Investigators are still trying to determine the connection between the woman and the people found in the home, but they don’t believe her death to be a random act, he said.
“There’s not someone hiding in the dark,” Johansson said.
He asked anyone with information to contact detectives at 702-828-3521.
