Police make disturbing discovery when they open man’s backyard freezer, AZ cops say
Investigators made a shocking discovery when they opened a 51-year-old’s backyard freezer, Arizona police said.
Human remains had been hidden for years at Joseph Hill Jr.’s Tempe home, the police department said in an Oct. 26 news release.
Investigators first got a tip about the body on Oct. 22, police said.
Police said they went to Hill’s home and asked to look in his freezer, but he refused. They got a search warrant and found skeletal remains in the freezer, police said.
Hill told detectives his father had died about four years ago, police said. However, the remains have not been identified by the medical examiner yet.
His mother died in hospice a few years ago, police said.
Neighbors told Arizona’s Family there was a fire at Hill’s home last year. Now, his home is under construction.
Hill was arrested on charges of concealment of a body and failure to report a death. The investigation is ongoing, and more charges could be added, police said.
Tempe is in the Phoenix metropolitan area.
