A Pennsylvania man was arrested after police say he fatally stabbed his girlfriend because he was upset over her haircut.

Shortly before 2 p.m. Nov. 3, police in Lancaster County were called for reports of a stabbing, according to WHTM. When officers arrived, they found two people injured and 50-year-old Carmen Martinez-Silva dead from stab wounds.

According to court records, Martinez-Silva spent the night with her daughter because she was scared of her boyfriend, Benjamin Garcia Gual, WHP reported. Her daughter told police that Garcia Gual was upset with her mother and threatened to stab her because she got a haircut.

Attorney information for Garcia Gual was not available.

After leaving her daughter’s house, Martinez-Silva went to her brother’s home, according to LancasterOnline.

A witness told police that Martinez-Silva asked them to tell Garcia Gual that their relationship was over, but the witness said they couldn’t find him, WHTM reported.

Then, Garcia Gual came to the home looking for Martinez-Silva, but the witness said they lied and told him she wasn’t there, according to WHP. Garcia Gual came back a second time and when Martinez-Silva’s brother answered the door, he began stabbing him, court records said, according to the news outlet.

Martinez-Silva intervened, but Garcia Gual then began stabbing her and tried to attack another person at the home, LancasterOnline reported.

Police found Garcia Gual in a car, WHTM reported. He was found with a kitchen knife with “brownish-red staining,” police told the news outlet.

Garcia Gual and the brother were both taken to a hospital and are expected to survive, WHP reported.

Garcia Gual is charged with criminal homicide, attempted homicide, three counts of aggravated assault, possession of an instrument of crime with intent and three counts of recklessly endangering another person, court records show. He is being held on no bond.

Lancaster is about a 70-mile drive west of Philadelphia.
