34-year-old missing for weeks is found dead in deep ravine near lake, Georgia cops say
A Georgia man was found dead near Lake Lanier two weeks after loved ones reported him missing, police say.
Kenneth Holland’s remains were found Sunday, Sept. 1, in a deep ravine just off Pearl Nix Parkway in Gainesville, the city’s police department said. Authorities described the area as “remote.”
Holland’s family reported him missing on Aug. 18, according to a police news release. The 34-year-old was reportedly in an “altered state of mind” when he vanished, his family told authorities.
He was last seen at a HomeTowne Suites hotel that morning, they said.
Holland “made a phone call at 1 am in distress & no one has heard from him since,” his sister, Emily Feltman, wrote in an Aug. 21 Facebook post. “His phone has been off since, his truck is still outside the hotel. He is not in his room & hasn’t been back.”
A cause of death hasn’t been released, but police said they don’t suspect foul play.

Gainesville is about a 50-mile drive northeast from downtown Atlanta.
