Woman vanishes on walk to see friend, AZ cops say. Months later, boyfriend is charged
A woman disappeared as she walked to a friend’s home, and now her boyfriend is one of two men charged in her death, Arizona deputies say.
Shayna Feinman’s boyfriend, Cavett Richards, 36, and William DalCerro, 58, were charged months after she disappeared, the Yavapai County Sheriff’s Office said in an Aug. 29 Facebook post.
“Our detectives did an incredible job with this difficult case,” Sheriff David Rhodes said in the post. “Their time, manpower and dedication resulted in an indictment of these two suspects, and they deserve our gratitude for their diligence.”
Feinman vanishes
Feinman, 35, was reported missing from the Hyde Park area near Seligman on March 18 after she was last seen on March 8, deputies said.
At the time of her disappearance, it was believed Feinman was walking to a friend’s home but never arrived, deputies said in an April 24 Facebook post.
When she didn’t show to pick up her dog that was being cared for by a neighbor, they went looking for her, according to deputies.
They soon found her car with her belongings, including her wallet and ID, “not far from the property where Feinman and her boyfriend — Cavett Richards — were staying,” according to deputies.
For months, the sheriff’s office made pleas to the public for information about Feinman’s disappearance.
“My sister … she was a big heart. She was a big heart,” her sister, Kara Feinman, said in a video shared by deputies to Facebook. “She’s a person, and she deserves to be found.”
Kara Feinman told 12News in March that her sister moved from New York to Arizona out of her love for the outdoors.
“Being in nature and camping are things that made her really happy,” Kara Feinman told the outlet. “Out there, you know, it’s not quite the city hustle and bustle life. And so that’s what she was drawn to.”
Kara Feinman was skeptical of her sister’s disappearance, a March Facebook post shows.
“I am not okay, and will not be okay until she is found,” she wrote. “Nothing is okay right now, and nothing is adding up.”
A breakthrough
While investigating, detectives learned of crimes “committed by Richards and DalCerro,” deputies said.
“These crimes included weapons offenses, tampering with evidence, and possession of a stolen vehicle,” deputies said.
The pair were arrested in relation to those crimes, according to deputies.
In the months that followed, detectives gathered enough evidence to file charges against the pair on Aug. 28 in Feinman’s death, including second-degree murder, concealment of a dead body, and conspiracy.
Feinman’s body, however, is still missing, deputies said.
“Anyone who sees something suspicious in the desert or forests in West-central California across through Arizona is asked to contact” deputies at 928-771-3260 or anonymously at yavapaisw.com.
Seligman is about a 170-mile drive northwest from Phoenix.
